Lolo Jones is an Olympic hurdler but the the 29-year-old athlete is an inspiration both on and off the track. The devout Christian, who is saving herself for marriage, has been looking for love but revealed on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno last night that she'd like to "invite (Tim) Tebow to church," Jones said.
Jones overcame incredible obstacles growing up in
Iowa. As of one of five children, Jones grew up poor struggling to survive with
her dad in and out of jail and at times even living in a church basement. Even
after making it to the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, Jones still had more personal
hurdles to battle. She lost her shot at Olympic gold after hitting the second
to last hurdle and falling on the track--an issue her surgeon later stated may
have been due to a spinal chord injury. But Jones recovered from her spinal
chord surgery in record time and us now headed to the London Olympics for one
last attempt to bring home the gold.
I had never heard of Jones until I saw her
documentary, SEC Storied: Lolo Jones by ESPN Films,
while I was ironically on the treadmill last Saturday. I normally flip around
the channels, but I couldn't tear my eyes away from this angelic warrior who
represents what a true hero and role model to girls should be. Bible Belt
Outfitters salutes you Lolo Jones and we are praying you "Run with
endurance the race that is set before us!" For more on this beautiful
athlete, please visit Runlolorun.com and stay up
